Burr vs. Shooter set for MCW Ascension

At our first event for the year, MCW Vendetta (available to rent or download now via MCW Encore), we witnessed a bout between Mike Burr and Fun Time Phil which saw the long time veteran being pinned by the YouTube sensation. Backstage footage from the event, which featured on the post show wrap-up on the MCW YouTube page saw a respectful Mike Burr shaking the hand of Fun Time Phil backstage, saying the newcomer had earnt his respect. with Phil asking for Burr to help mentor him in return with the intention of continuing to improve his unorthodox in-ring style, but the amicable situation was broken up by Josh ‘The Axe’ Shooter, who claimed that Burr is a shell of his former self and someone who had nothing left to offer professional wrestling, before storming off.

Following that confrontation, a furious Mike Burr requested a match with Shooter, with the intent of proving The Axe wrong. It was a prospect that MCW Management were happy to agree to, and now, on Saturday February 11th at MCW Ascension, we’ll witness these two in singles competition.

It should be noted that these two competitors have a long and storied history together. When Hard Way Inc were at their pinnacle (including an inaugural run as the MCW Tag Team Champions), Mike Burr and Jay Andrews enlisted the services of a rookie Josh Shooter in a mentorship capacity. That relationship turned sour when Shooter turned his backs on them (ironically with the services of Fun Time Phil, better known at that stage simply as Fox), powerbombing valet Miami through a table in the process.

Mike Burr and Josh Shooter have both teamed together and fought against one another on and off within Melbourne City Wrestling for the past three years – could this be the beginning of a new chapter in their rivalry? Will Mike Burr prove that he still has plenty of fuel left in the tank? Or will he be the biggest conquest in the career of Josh Shooter to date?

Tickets for this event are still available online via this link, but the pre-sale will end over the course of the weekend, so we advise getting in quick! Tickets can also be purchased at the door.
