MCW Championship Match set for MCW Ascension

At MCW Vendetta, Dowie James spoke from the heart, explaining that being the new Melbourne City Wrestling Heavyweight champion and having the support of the fans since being with the company from the start meant the world to him. Dowie promised that he’d be a fighting champion, just as he’s been a competitor who hasn’t backed down from any challenges in the past. We would see three members of the MCW roster step up to challenge Dowie throughout the course of the evening, but as we’ve already seen, Adam Brooks, Mr Juicy and Elliot Sexton have already all been announced for matches for MCW Ascension, which takes place this Saturday night, February 11.

Earlier in the week, we announced that one of our most requested interstate wrestlers would be making a return to MCW at Ascension, and we’re proud to announce that Ryan Eagles will be making his first Melbourne City Wrestling appearance in over a year, at the MCW Arena in Essendon! The credentials of Ryan Eagles are vast – among other title reigns, he held the NWA Australian Championship for over 500 days and he’s a two time PWA Heavyweight Champion, and he’s also been ranked in the Pro Wrestling Illustrated Top 500 five times, with his best showing being at number 259.

When Dowie James caught wind of the match, he was quick to inform MCW Management that he wanted it to be for the MCW Heavyweight Championship, quickly backing up his claims of being a fighting champion. Management acquiesced, and the match will mark Dowie James’ first defense of the MCW Heavyweight Championship. That said, Dowie James has been out of commission since just after our last event, having suffered ankle damage during his regular training regimen. Ryan Eagles is known for capitalising on any weaknesses he can find in his opponents, so with that in mind, could Dowie’s reign be over just as quick as it began? Could we be seeing Ryan Eagles defending the MCW Heavyweight Championship against the likes of Mr Juicy, Adam Brooks and Elliot Sexton in the not too distant future?

Tickets for MCW Ascension can be purchased on the night at the venue. We still have plenty of seats available and will also have standing room space as well. This has shaped up to be a typically huge lineup, with the MCW Championship match adding to what is already a star studded card for the evening.
