MCW Presents: Ballroom Brawl

It’s all lead up to this.

On Saturday, July 20, Melbourne City Wrestling takes over the Thornbury Theatre for the biggest event of the year: Ballroom Brawl!

Every match, every rivalry, and every battle has led to this night. For the past nine years, Ballroom Brawl has been a platform for future stars to breakout, for those who are in the spotlight to shine even brighter, and for legacies to be cemented.

At the centre of it all is the Ballroom Brawl Rumble, a bout featuring 20 participants entering at 90 second intervals, with the winner receiving a contendership opportunity for the MCW World Heavyweight Championship, which can be cashed in anywhere, any place, and at any time.

Winning the rumble is simple in theory, but more difficult in practise; eliminate all other competitors by throwing them over the top rope, with both feet hitting the floor, and be the last man standing!

Many familiar faces from across the world have already declared their intention to win the Rumble, including TK Cooper, DCT and former champion Gino Gambino. With so much on the line, who will be victorious and go on to challenge for the most prestigious championship in Australian wrestling?

While it’s still uncertain as to who will emerge as the winner of the Ballroom Brawl Rumble, we are guaranteed a new champion being crowned on Saturday July 20th, when the finals of the MCW Intercommonwealth Championship take place between Lochy Hendricks and Danny Psycho.

Both men desire to be champion for dramatically different reasons. Danny Psycho has been enjoying the ultimate Cinderella Story with his return to the squared circle in Melbourne. To become the Intercommonwealth Champion would provide the most satisfying of final acts in a journey that has captivated the MCW Faithful for months.

On the other side of the ring stands Lochy Hendricks; A fighter whose quest for championship gold carries sinister undertones. The self-declared final stop on the “Loverboy Farewell Tour”,  Hendricks has made his disrespectful intentions to take the title overseas with him clear. With the legacy of the title on the line, who will emerge as the next Intercommonwealth Champion?

With more matches to be announced over the coming weeks, Ballroom Brawl is a can’t miss event that will be talked about long after the final bell rings!
